Radioland October 2016

KBBF Financial Literacy Workshops in November:

Did you know, that according to a study produced by the Global Financial Literacy Excellence Center, only 12% of college-educated Latinos have advanced financial knowledge and only 32 % demonstrate basic financial literacy? In fact, the percentage points were lower among Latinos than any other ethnic group. As we go into the holiday season, which often translates into lots of spending and very little saving, KBBF is producing a live, three part, Financial Literacy Workshops, in Spanish, hosted by our very own Divina Giron and Soccoro Vasquez, (hosts of Planeando Hoy Su Futuro, which airs every Wednesday evening at 6pm on 89.1 KBBF Radio)

According to the study, 59% of college-educated Latinos experience financial instability, where they are unable to afford bills and basic expenses. Almost half (48%) communicated feelings of financial vulnerability, stating that they’d taken on too much debt.

Our Financial Literacy workshops are designed to give you the information you need to get on the other side of these dismal statistics. They will be conducted in Spanish and are happening on three consecutive Saturdays from 9am to 11am, on November 5th, 12th and 19th at the Carpenter’s Center at 1700 Corby Avenue in Santa Rosa. Each workshop is $20.00 or you can attend all three for just $50.00.

Asiste y conoce los aspectos básicos de las finanzas personales con la ayuda de artículos y recursos que te proporcionaremos en estos Talleres Financieros. KBBF Bilingual Radio is 100% Listener Supported:

Starting in December, we will be rolling out our social media giving campaign (sponsored by the National Federation of Community Broadcasters) called GIVE BIG TO YOUR STATION. We want to make it very easy for you to donate to the country’s very first, bilingual, community, radio station, 89.1 KBBF. In fact, we are almost at the end of our special 2016 year-long matching period, where all our financial donations (up to $50,000) will be matched by one very generous, very anonymous, donor, so please, support KBBF radio today.

KBBF Internet Streaming!

By the end of 2016, you should be able to stream our signal via the internet. That means you no longer have to be in our 18 county signal area to listen to KBBF Radio! Simply go to our website (which is under construction, so please bear with us) at KBBF-FM.org. If it’s not quite ready, then don’t worry, we will be streaming live by the end of this month or early December (just in time for our end of year fund drive!). We look forward to bringing our unique, bilingual, public, radio content to the whole wide world, via the internet, very soon!
